Osho Nataraj Meditation
MEDITATIONS FOR MODERN MAN”
Meditations of Contemplation and Understanding
Right Understanding Will Immeasurably Improve Your Life. It is a dancing meditation. Dancing with your totality & get lost in this totality completely & fully. In this meditation you do not need to plan your moves, just let your body move with the music, whatever way it wants to move. In this dance the ego should disappear& only dance should remain. When division between the dance & the dance will disappear it will become a meditation until then it will only be an exercise. Osho says that you must remember the word playful & be playful while doing this meditation, enjoy the dance & the music. Dancing has many physical & psychological benefits.
Let the dance flow it its own way; don’t force it. Rather, follow it; allow it to happen. It is not a doing but a happening. Remain in the mood of festivity. You are not doing something very serious; you are just playing, playing with you life energy, playing with your bio energy, allowing it to move in its own way. Just like the wind blows and the river flows – you are flowing and blowing. Feel it. And be playful.’OSHO
This is a 65 minute dancing meditation in three stages, with specifically created music.
First Stage: 40 minutes
With eyes closed, dance as if possessed. Let your unconscious take over completely. Do not control your movements or witness what is happening. Just be totally in the dance.
Second Stage: 20 minutes
Keeping your eyes closed, lie down immediately. Be silent and still.
Third Stage: 5 minutes
Dance in celebration and enjoy!
BENEFITS
When you do this dancing meditation, you release a tremendous amount of tension, and creative insights arise. Tension is simply trapped energy. The wild and free movement of the dance is a great way to set this energy free and get it moving. Feeling free in your body allows your mind to expand, your heart to open, and your spirit to soar. Then, when you lie still immediately after dancing, your gross level of activity—the body—is stopped, and the energy you have released travels inward to the subtler layers of your being. This technique allows the dynamism of the dance to move to your roots, to the very core of your being, liberating great feelings of joy and positivity.
Do you ever put on your favorite dancing music when no one is around and just cut loose? It’s a great way to release tension and unwind. With a few simple additions, this pleasurable experience can become a meditation.
Historically, Sufis have had a tradition of dancing as a meditation in celebration of life. The following Dancing meditation, created by mystic and teacher Osho, is called Osho Nataraj.
Dancing is no longer a doing, but a happening. As you continue to dance, you may start to forget that you are dancing and to feel that you are the dance. Unlike those times when you are still aware of the separation between you and the dance, between you and the music, it becomes a meditation when the divisions dissolve and you are totally involved, totally merged into the dance. You do not need to do anything to force this shift; just allow it to happen.
Disappearing in the dance, then relaxing into silence and stillness, is the way to go inside for this method.
This is a great introduction to tonight’s meditation Osho Nataraj Meditation where we, with eyes closed, will completely let go and get lost in the dance. We will not control our movements, we will be totally in the dance. We then move into a space of stillness and silence.
This series of meditations is an ideal introduction for the beginner and also allows the more experienced meditator to go deeper. Meditating in a group allows each meditator to have their own experience whilst benefiting from the energy and support of the whole group. Most Meditations are set to beautiful music specifically composed for each meditation.
Each week we explore and experience a different active meditation which is fully explained. Afterwards there will be an opportunity for sharing for those who wish to. Each meditation lasts 1-hour, so allowing for explanation and brief sharing
Forget the dancer, the center of the ego; become the dance. That is the meditation. Dance so deeply that you forget completely that ‘you’ are dancing and begin to feel that you are the dance. The division must disappear; then it becomes a meditation.
If the division is there, then it is an exercise: good, healthy, but it cannot be said to be spiritual. It is just a simple dance. Dance is good in itself – as far as it goes it is good. After it, you will feel fresh, young. But it is not meditation yet. The dancer must go, until only the dance remains…. Don’t stand aside, don’t be an observer. Participate!
And be playful. Remember the word playful always – with me it is very basic.”

“My whole life has been devoted to only one single program: how to bring love and meditation together – because only through that meeting a new humanity is possible. And only in the meeting of love and meditation, the duality of man and woman – the inequality of man and woman – disappears.” Osho
